Spa Love: Ritz Carlton Boutique Spa – Georgetown…

I had the opportunity to spend the morning at the Ritz Carlton Spa in bustling Georgetown yesterday. I was greeted my the spa manager and whisked back to a locker room where a fluffy robe and slippers awaited me. In the locker room, you can have a steam or a sauna prior to whichever treatment you are receiving (posh!). After I changed, I was guided to another room with large comfy chairs and I was told to “relax”….. In the room were complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. I could really see this as a lovely way to spend the afternoon with your sweetheart…really romantic and cozy.

At the spa they use B. Kamins products, which are known the world around as “the gentle cosmeceutical”. If you are not familliar, the line was developed by leading Canadian chemist Ben Kaminsky, which bridges the gap between the physician’s office and traditional cosmetic treatments. The products focus on a range of skin conditions, with emphasis on sensitive, menopause, rosacea, problematic and extra dry skin types.

I met my esthetician Poy who has been practicing for 6 years and she has been with the Ritz for 2. You can tell that she loves her job as she is not only knowledgeable about skin in general, she also makes sure you get the right treatment for YOUR skin type and needs. She recommended the B.Kamins Beyond Botox treatment for me which is dubbed and an anti aging treatment to markedly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  The superstar of this spa treatment is a unique toxin-free serum called Theraputic Anti Aging Wrinkle Lift which helps firm and plump the skin, making wrinkles appear softer and less noticeable.

As her fingers tiptoed across my skin, soft music (I think there were birds…LOL) drifted in the background and I was able to escape for 50 minutes of pure bliss.  While I was there, she also tinted my lashes and brows (which I never thought of doing before but I like it so much that I am almost certain that I will continue) and she gave me little tips like putting thin half circle slices of kiwi under your eyes will reduce dark circles and puffiness or using any product that contains Kojic acid will help brighten your skin.

She took her time and when I was finished – she put me back in the room with the champagne again and I had another nibble of strawberry before I went back to the locker room with a huge smile on my face.  The Ritz Carlton has several locations across the globe, but not all have spas so make sure you check each page for one near you.
