Steal This: Recessionista Fab – the Aveda Institute…

I know times are hard….and keeping up your beauty routine (especially if you are used to spending a little) can be more than a challenge these days.  To the rescue is the Aveda Institute, which offers services for mere pennies compared to your usual high end salon.  Aveda as you know, is the forward thinking green beauty company that gave us the fabulous Ted Gibson (he started his career there) and they want you to stay pretty.

The Aveda Institute (New York location pictured above) offers haircuts & color as well as select spa services including mani/pedis and facials.  They have several locations all over, but bear in mind the stylists/estheticians are still students (albeit supervised ones, but students nonetheless).  So make sure you bring with you a photo of what you are looking for as far as cut or color goes just so there are no surprises.  Also, try having them cut your hair dry (have them wash and blow it out, flat iron it and then cut it) there is less room for error and the best way to get your hair cut if you are curly like me.
