There were some amazing looks and some definite WTF’s on the red carpet for last nights Costume Institute Ball held at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art. The event is an annual one and definitely brings out the avant garde in some who take the “costume aspect” a bit too far (Hello Madonna, Tyra, Rihanna, Victoria Beckham?).I do have to give them credit though, because even though the looks were a bit off the wall, that’s kind of what the exhibit itself is about. That crazy couture, off the wall things that you would never wear in your everyday life to dinner or work. It’s about the art of fashion….
The Museum of Costume Art was founded by Aline Bernstein and Irene Lewisohn. In 1937 they merged with the Met and became its Costume Institute department. Today, its collection contains more than 80,000 costumes and accessories. Due to the fragile nature of the items in the collection, the Costume Institute does not maintain a permanent installation. Instead, every year it holds two separate shows in the Met’s galleries using costumes from its collection, with each show centering on a specific designer or theme. The Costume Institute’s annual Benefit Gala, is co-chaired by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
Some of the looks were amazing!! I love Amber Rose (Kanye’s girlfriend), Liv Tyler, Cindy Crawford, Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively and so many more.
Stay Pretty!!
