Tucked away in the Marina on the west side of Los Angeles is the absolutely gawgus Ritz Carlton hotel. Like most of the other Ritz hotels, this one has a spa with an impressive menu of services. The menu differs by location so I wanted to try something new. My back has been killing me lately so I knew I wanted a massage.
The hotel itself is beautiful, laid back decor very California. The spa is located adjacent to the pool on the lower level. As you may remember from my previous review of the Ritz spa in Georgetown, I was greeted by the spa manager and taken to a locker room with slippers and a comfy robe awaited me. I decided to get the deep tissue massage, my masseuse Irena (she is Russian) met me and asked me for my preferences, I recommend having the table heated as it made a huge difference as far as the comfort factor goes. She used a peppermint oil which felt really nice and smelled amazing. She was very skilled and made me feel at ease very quickly. Her fingers worked their magic and had me feeling better in no time. If you have never had a deep tissue massage before, it is a very intensive and really works muscles that are tight/stressed. When a deep tissue massage is good, you will feel like you just finished a workout, this one was better than any other deep tissue massage I have ever had. I attribute this to Irena, who I felt like hugging when I was done.
She took her time and when I was finished – she put me back in the relaxation room before I went back to the locker room with a huge smile on my face. The Ritz Carlton has several locations across the globe, but not all have spas so make sure you check each page for one near you.
