Editor’s Note: We’ve Gone Pink For October!!!

pink ribbon 2 Editors Note: Weve Gone Pink For October!!!In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month – The Makeup Girl is going pink for the month of October.  I will be highlighting a few products here and there but would REALLY like it if people would take the time to donate to a cause that affects all women.  As some of you know, my Nana was a breast cancer survivor…so every year, I make a donation in her name.

Last month, I was honored to attend an event at the Estee Lauder offices where we heard Evelyn Lauder speak.  Evelyn H. Lauder is the founder of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  The foundation has raised over $250 million to support clinical and translational research at medical institutions across the globe conducting the most advanced and promising breast cancer research that will help lead to prevention and a cure in our lifetime. BCRF support for promising yet untried ideas is a crucial component of this research. New grants are announced in October each year. On October 28th, 2009, BCRF announces grants of nearly $29 million to 171 scientists from top universities and academic medical centers across the globe.  Since most cosmetic companies have come under scrutiny for “pink washing”, it’s important to note that a minimum of 85% off all of the funds raised through BCRFcure.org go directly to breast cancer research and awareness programs.

I’d like to continue my efforts and encourage you to make a donation, no matter how small to the breast cancer fund of your choice.  This disease affects  grandmothers, mothers, sisters and cousins so the more we know through research the better chance we have of stopping it.

Stay Pretty!!
