Style Watch: Robert Verdi’s “Tweet This” Event…

I recently had the pleasure of attending “Tweet This”, a live Twitter event with Robert Verdi at his fantabulous LuxeLaboratory. If you’re not familiar with Robert Verdi’s Luxe Laboratoty, it is his uber luxurious NYC apartment that regularly plays host to celebs galore and the fashion elite.

During “Tweet This”, Robert shared his top five style tips with an intimate congregation of beauty writers while the tips were broadcasted live via Twitter. During the event I took copious notes and lots of pics. Naturally I’ve got the deets and I’m bursting at the seams to dish!

Here are Robert Verdi’s top five style tips for fall:

#rvtips 1.  Chunky Statement necklaces make a splash at work!

• I can not agree more. I am a major “recycle-er” when it comes to dressing. And by “recycle-er” I mean I wear the same clothes over and over. Nothing changes the look of my favorite black sheath dress like a gorg statement necklace. With the right neck piece (scarves included) a basic black dress can go from the office, to date night, to a cocktail party and everything in between!

#rvtips 2. Over-sized Cocktail Rings glam up your jeans!

• Cocktail rings are a fun and inexpensive obsession! Shop local thrift shops and teeny bopper stores like Forever 21 and Charlutee Russe for cheap “hit it and quit it” disposable accessories.

#rvtips 3. Over the knee boots:  A true style statement.  Not just for hookers anymore!

• Thank God the “Hooker’s Only” ban has been lifted. Nice girls everywhere, rejoice! Over the knee boots are yours for the taking. And fret not…when tastefully paired with a scaled down outfit, you will not be mistaken for a lady of the evening. But you’re on your own if you’re so bold as to partner your new over the knee friends with liquid leggings, thigh bearing skirts, or an over abundance of cleavage! You’ve been warned.

#rvtips 4.   Long gloves glam up any cape!

• I find long gloves particularly attractive with three quarter sleeve coats. I received a pair for Christmas last year and its amazing how my red wool long gloves transition almost any Spring jacket into Fall appropriate outerwear.

#rvtips 5.  Patterned Tights with open toed shoes:  Very chic!

• I love this tip. Pattern tights are a great way to extend the wear-ability of spring shoes. Its also a great way to bring excitement to an otherwise basic dress!
