Beauty News: Hearst Magazine Does Real Beauty…

STAGG HEADSHOT Beauty News: Hearst Magazine Does Real Beauty...You may remember a while back that I told you about an interactive tool called the Beauty Book on a new site called Real Beauty run by Hearst Magazine.  Well, it turns out that there is more to the site than meets the eye!  I spent some time talking with Nicole Stagg, the site’s founding editor recently and found out about what the site has in store for beauty lovers like you and me!

Real Beauty is an editorial driven destination site that has original content as well as re-printed content from Hearst brands and hybrid content.  They use their brands such as, Harpers Bazaar, Marie Claire, Hype Hair and Latina magazines to ensure that the focus is beauty information that is a personalized resource for all women and all ethnicities.  In addition, they also have content from UC Berkeley for research and wellness info.

In addition to the Beauty Book, they are also rolling out a new easy to use makeover tool that unlike others calibrates on it’s own, just upload a front facing photo.  In 2010, they will also be rolling out a new weight loss simulator (Helllooooo??!! Awesome!) that proves to be awesome at showing you how you will look without 10, 20, 30 lbs (or whatever number you want) and a mascara tool with technology that is 100% exclusive that will show thickening with certain brands.  Another cool thing about the Beauty Book that I discovered is that the toolbar kind of hovers at the bottom of the site and gives you recommended beauty and wellness tips based on your personal profile.  In turn…Hearst, as well as advertisers, gives you more honed recommendations. The toolbar will also carry over onto other Hearst Web sites and social networking sites like Facebook. “It’s kind of like a traveling makeup kit while you’re browsing the Web,” Ms. Stagg explained.

This is truly a realistic approach that shows beauty on every level with a mix of social, expert and personal advice.  Can’t wait to jump in!

Stay Pretty!!
