Smell This: Tom Ford’s Black Orchid…

My nose has been awakened!!  I love Black Orchid with all  my heart.  Mr. Ford’s successful (but pricey) line called Tom Ford Beauty is in a word luxurious.  I’m sure that’s exactly what he wants you to think too.   His vision for the line is, “To be the first true luxury brand of the 21st century…” an ambitious statement, yes but this man knows his stuff (hellooo??  Gucci!)

Black Orchid is a rich, dark and sensual fragrance.  The top note is black truffle and ylang ylang mingled with bergamot and black currant.  Then the fragrance unfolds with lush custom made black orchid blended with fruity florals and deepened by lotus wood.  The finish is patchouli (you know how I hate it, but it is stunning in this blend), insense, vetiver, vanilla, balsam and sandalwood.

I know that sounds really busy but I am telling you it is soft and rich at the same time.  He pulls out all the stops with an elegant jet black bottle with art deco inspired lines.  The perfume bottle is a limited edition one of a kind, crafted from Lalique crystal (a work of art in itself).  The still ads are shot by world renowned photographer Irving Penn.

I have always been a fan of Mr. Ford’s work (he can do no wrong in my book).  He has an incredible eye for trends and what works.  His fragrances are just the tip of the iceberg.

Smell Pretty!!
