Fashion Week: Backstage at Alice + Olivia SS 14

Fashion Week continues backstage at Alice + Olivia SS 14 – they had some GORGEOUS looks.  For this collection Designer Stacey Bendet summed up her inspiration as being “Pretty In Prep.” The collection took shape due in part from inspiration that she found in American sportswear which she characterized as being preppy and cute. She took that idea and turned it up with adult flair dressed with touches of romance without the childish undertones that come to mind when you use Preppy and Cute in the same sentence. The beauty for the show had a veritable DREAM TEAM hair by Nick Irwin from TIGI, makeup by Sara Lucero from Stila and Vanity Projects from Sally Hansen for nails.

The Rundown:

Staying in sync with Bendet’s original vision, Global Director for TIGI Nick Irwin kept the hair minimal without a lot of fuss. No distractions here. The hair was side parted and crafted into a beautiful chignon which added to the prepped out romantic feel that American sportswear brings to mind. To achieve the look Irwin used TIGI’S Weightless Shine Spray [$20] to eliminate frizz while adding luminous shine to the hair. Afterwards he pulled the hair into a low ponytail and used TIGI’S Curlesque Strong Mousse  [$12] on the tail end to wrap the hair into a bun to create the chignon.

Makeup was equally minimal and perfectly fresh to give models a flawless look. Makeup artist Sara Lucero used Stila’s CC Cream [$44]  to create a polished complexion while simultaneously brightening the skin and softening fine lines. In keeping with a natural look Lucero applied Stila Convertible Color [$25] in Lillium on the cheeks and Gerbara to the lips for a radiant glow. To complete the face she added Stilla Jewel Eye Shadow [$22] in Opal to make the eyes pop.

Tying the look together manicurist from Vanity Projects created a neutral look reverse French Mani by applying Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Almost Almond as a base coat and Floss Gloss Pro Nail Lacquer [$8] in Dinge at the tip to achieve an organic feel that was polished to perfection.
