Do you love glossy balms? How about layering lippies?? I do that all the time…and we all know of my aversion to lip balm of any kind. So, when YSL Volupte Sheer Candy [$30] came across my desk…I was DONE. The packaging alone had me at hello….BUT I really love the formula. Now, if you are looking for a long wearing lipstick…you won’t find that here. What you will find is some serious moisturization and sheer pops of color that look amazing alone or with a liner for more depth.

TMG Faves: Bite Beauty Lip Rouge…

With the warm months of summer here already I am always looking for ways to keep everything super light. Back in April when I was in L.A., one of my fellow editors had something called Bite Beauty and I was intrigued!! I love a good lip stain! So fast forward a few months later and I am lucky enough to get my hands on a sample to try myself. Bite is a collection of lip products featuring the super antioxidant resveratrol married with superior color. The shades range from nude to plum, are highly pigmented and super long-lasting. The pro-performance formulas have all-natural ingredients including organic shea butter, superfoods, and food-grade colors, so when you bite your lips you can honestly say that what you are ingesting is actually good for you! The Bite Beauty Lip Rouge [$22] is an all purpose lip & cheek rouge (LOVE it! A multitasker) that comes in 6 shades will have you looking naturally flush in seconds.

TMG Faves: Face Atelier Facade Lip & Cheek Stains…

I love going to The Makeup Show because when I do, I inevitably end up discovering some great products like this one. Face Atelier, which is a Canadian brand that I know and love (they have amazing face foundations that are light as air) has this FANTASTIC new product called Facade [$26] which is a lip and cheek stain. What’s SO great about it is that not only can you use them for lips and cheeks (I was wearing the shade Godiva in my video yesterday) BUT it’s very light, long lasting and weightless feeling. They also have a longer drying time so you can blend or build BEFORE it sets (most stains dry right away thwarting the ability to blend or build). They are siicone based and have a cream to powder finish that looks translucent (fabulous!!) Don’t be scared, the shades look scarier in the tube then they do in real life. My favorites here are Godiva and Livid but all the shades are fab…

TMG Project: Cover Girl Lip Perfection 7 Day Challenge [RESULTS]…

Hello all! I know it’s wayyyy past 7 days but things have been busy over here at TMG HQ. Now, the last day of my challenge was May 1st (see my kick off video here) and I have to tell you that I was super impressed with this lipstick for a few reasons. The colors are fantastic and I love the lightweight feeling of the formula (double yes for me). Bottom line…At the end of the day, my lips weren’t really more or less moisturized then when I started – BUT they were in very good condition after wearing nothing but lipstick for 7 days which I think is a true testament to the silk moisturizing complex doing it’s job. (I normally slather on balm/gloss every chance I get) so this was absolute TORTURE for me! Anything in the name of guinea pigness (namely all for you my pretties!!)

Pros:

Fabulous shade range (44 in all)
Lightweight feel
Long wear (reduces to an even stain after around 4-5 hours)
My lips are definitely smoother and in pretty good condition after wearing only lipstick for 7 days

Cons:

Noticed slight feathering around the lip-line (I would use a pencil to avoid this)
Color begins to wear off after about 2 hours but settles into a nice stain that lasts for SEVERAL hours

All in all – a great lipstick for the money and the fact that there are so many colors to choose from you can certainly own a few for the price of one luxury lipstick.

A few weeks ago, COVERGIRL came to me with a fun idea, and that was to wear NOTHING on my lips but the new COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipstick for 7 days. I am definitely a lip balm/gloss junkie so this was a teeny bit scary for me! Over the course of 7 days, I will wear nothing on my lips except for one of LipPerfection’s mindblowingly colorful 44 shades. At the end of the week, I’m hoping to see just how well COVERGIRL LipPerfection’s Silk Moisturizing Complex really works.

TMG Project: CoverGirl LipPerfection Challenge [Video]…

Hey!! I am SO excited about this lipstick I can’t even stand it. CoverGirl has a new lip color that is just beyond the beyond as far as color and payoff are concerned. I am doing a 7 Day challenge to see if the claims of softer smoother lips are a reality.

This color glides on smoothly and is EXTREMELY light & emollient feeling. The colors are definitely rich and pigmented which I love. This formula also contains Silk Moisturizing Complex which they claim helps to leave your lips gorgeous and smooth in just 7 days. In addition, these lasted about 4.5 hours on me before fading to a really nice even stain which I also loved.

Emollient – olive oil derived, provides active moisturization
White Tea – leveraged from Olay, ingredient popular in anti-aging cosmetics
Butters Complex – shea, avocado and aloe provides an extraordinary lip experience
Silk protein – derived from pure silk to help soften lips

Spring 2011: MAC Sheen Supreme…

I love gloss, but a gloss masquerading as a lipstick is even BETTER! That is exactly what I think of MAC’s latest for spring called Sheen Supreme. The lightweight look and feel of a gloss and the longevity of a lipstick with no stickiness/tackiness. The shades are endless and the formula is so light that you can pretty much wear any of them regardless of pigment. PLUS, its part of the permanent collection! Wahoooo!!

Gloss is good, but there’s nothing quite as wonderfully, worldly cinematic as a Lipstick – and they’re coming back! We’ve updated formulas to make it all plausible. I am decidedly NOT a lipstick kinda gal (I think this happened over the past 4 years or so), I don’t like the heavy feeling so I just use more gloss now than I used to. NEW! NARS Pure Sheer SPF Lip Treatment…

If you are a regular reader then you know I love any kind of lip treatment that is sheer and adds color! This latest from NARS Pure Sheer SPF Lip Treatment is right up my alley!! Packed with SPF 15, AND Wild Mango Butter, this yummy little number leaves lips feeling soft and supple, while repairing dry or chapped lips. Vitamin E, Polar Berries and Acai Oil provide antioxidants and long lasting hydration for the lips.

The convenient slim-stick has a the rich and creamy texture and the wear time is around three hours or so which is not all that bad for a sheer lip product! As far as I am concerned, I would re-apply anyway just because. It feels lightweight like a balm but give you a noticeable amount of color…which is just perfect for daytime or if you are a no lipstick person like me.
