Brooklyn Decker’s Sexy Short Hair Courtesy of Ted Gibson & Jason Backe…

Celebrity stylist Ted Gibson and colorist Jason Backe gave supermodel Brooklyn Decker a sophisticated new look yesterday afternoon at the Glamourous W Hotel (where Ted’s new salon will be opening this summer) The look is a sophisticated yet fun wavy choppy do that frames her petitie face beautifully.

Ted and Brooklyn talked about her ideas for a new cut and looked at pictures for inspiration. To start, Ted cut Brooklyn’s hair in an above-the-shoulder bob and added layers and soft fringe. Next, master color genius Jason Backe used L’Oreal Professionnel’s INOA to give Brooklyn highlights and low-lights for a slightly darker take on her beach blonde locks. Ted & Jason ALWAYS do a phenomenal job! I love the new look on her!

A nod to the 90’s with Vena Cava was only complete with the help of hair guru, Ted Gibson, for Beauty.com and an innovative use of nail polish- Nonie Crème for butterLONDON.

Channeling Christy Turlington’s 90’s grunge look, Ted Gibson created a laid back cool look to complete Vena Cava’s Fall 2011 Collection. To achieve this look, he dampened the hair with his Tame It Shine Lotion and Fix It Gel then scrunched to create a carefree and casual appearance.

Thinking outside the box, Nonie Crème crafted “Finger Bands” for the Fall 2011 Vena Cava show. Nails left bare yet the fingers were painted with small colorful stripes to create a look that was out-of-the-box thinking that created the perfect 90’s grunge look!

New York Fashion Week: Behind the Scenes at Lela Rose…

Lead Stylist for the beauty inspiration, Sarah Lucero for Stila Cosmetics and Beauty.com channels Vintage Hollywood glam for the catwalk at Lela Rose.

Stila fashioned a bold lip and a soft eye to compliment Lela Rose’s Fall 2011 collection. The contemporary update on old school glam is feminine, sophisticated, and show-stopping both on and off the runway.

As one who is new to the bold lip, I love this look! This old school Hollywood Glam look is definitely one I will play with! Is this a look that you would rock? If so, where?

The hair and nails were by Ted Gibson and Deborah Lippmann. Ted’s team was led by NY based stylist Devin Toth who walked me through the hollywood glam with a ponytail twist look…..TG products were beautiful hold hairspray and tame it shine lotion very sleek and beautiful (see video below for how to and inspiration)

While Deborah wasn’t there this season (neither was Ted, the grammys were that Sunday!) I spoke with Jude Lippmann, Deborah’s husband about the polish used for the show. Lela always uses nail color as part of the overall look and this season was no exception as she chose “Billionaire” a deep forest green that went beautifully with the rich colors and texture of the clothes.

Live from New York….It’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! TMG has all the scoop on the latest in beauty trends from the runways, giving you a heads-up on what’s hot for the spring!

The always fabulous Ted Gibson shared the secret that the top hairstyle for the spring is….drum roll, please…the bun!! Here we have ANOTHER unstructured bun (we think this is a really relate-able runway/realway trend to watch!)

What could be a better hairstyle for spring? Simple, chic, and easy to do at home, this look definitely translates perfectly from the runways to the streets and we’ve got the scoop on how you can get the look too!

At Vena Cava, Ted was inspired by 1970′s Halston, creating a chic woman, wearing a classic bun, but modernized with texture.

Using Ted Gibson Built It Blowdrying Spray, Ted and his team blew out each of the models’ hair and then flat-ironed it straight after working in Ted Gibson Tame It Shine Lotion, to give the hair a sleek appearance and healthy shine.

The hair was then slicked back into a sleek ponytail, which was separated into 1-2 inch vertical sections (depending on the length of the model’s hair) with elastic bands, which were, “meant to show” as part of the modernization of the bun.

The ponytail was then twisted the same way you’d twist the hair to create a classic bun, and was then secured with bobby pins all around the outside of the bun, which Ted says, “are also okay to show”. Although a few pieces were already sticking out, Ted “finished” the bun by texturizing the center of it with his fingers, and securing the look with a spritz of Ted Gibson Beautiful Hold Hairspray.

To complete the look, a scarf (approximately 20-24 inches long, can vary) was then wrapped around the head. Starting underneath the bun, Ted placed the center of the scarf under the bun and then wrapped it around the top of the head, crisscrossing at the top. The loose ends were then twisted downward, and pinned underneath each side of the bun to hold it into place.

And voila, possibly the simplest way to have chic hair for spring!

NYFW Get The Look: Tarte for Lela Rose Fall 2010…

One of my favorite shows to see at New York Fashion Week is Lela Rose. The looks are always on point and this season was no exception. We were treated to the triple threat of Tarte, Ted Gibson and Deborah Lippmann. The looks was sultry and soft at the same time.

Lela Rose Fall 2010 Look:

MAKEUP
Inspiration : Nature’s celestial landscapes- think of the nighttime sky and imagine a full moon peaking behind the clouds.
Overall Look : The moonlit eyes are mysterious, while the complexion and lips have a cloudy, hazy feel.

eyes: Silvery, moonlit eyes-a silvery/black smoky eye without edges and just a touch of blue. The eye is almost 3D, rounded and mysterious.

direction: Think of the eye as a rounded sphere or planet. The inner crease of the eye is darkened up to the brow with the shimmery deep blue gray (eyeshadow in lucy I’m home). The outer area is rounded, softly muted blackness. The center of the eye is the lightest, with darker edges (inner and outer corner of eye) ending in black (eye couture palette). Apply blue lagoon only in the center of the top and lower lids. Blend the blue into the gray and then into a bit of the black. There should be a bit of the blue and silver gray (eye couture palette) blended in the center of the lower lashline. Apply smolderEYES in the inner rim of the eyes. Top it off with a coat of lights, camera, lashes! mascara on the top and bottom lashes (no curling needed). Leave eyebrows-do not fill in. After finishing the eyes, clean underneath with the eraser 4-in-1 natural concealer .

complexion: It should feel muted like a hazy, cloudy sky. The mineral powder will matte and tone skin.

· smooth operator oil-free tinted moisturizer with SPF 20 (one shade lighter than model’s complexion)
· provocateur pressed mineral powder
· t-zone travel
cheeks: Just a touch of healthy blush.

· powder over blissful with provocateur pressed mineral powder

HAIR

My hair boo Ted Gibson created a slight departure from his normal look for Lela Rose. Instead of the requisite sleek ponytail, he created a textured updo that was a deconstructed french twist. “We’re creating a modern French twist,” Gibson said, “It’s the opposite of the classic Upper East Side twist — disheveled with tons of texture — for the girl who’d hang out downtown, at the Mercer Hotel, or the new Crosby.”

NAILS

Nails sparkled, with Deborah Lippmann‘s polish in Across the Universe, a new release for fall. “It was one of those match made in heaven situations,” she said, “I was already doing this shade for fall, and when I met with the design team to go over the clothing, we realized that she had a fabric in her fall collection that exactly matched it, so It was a no brainer.” Nails were filed into a short almond shape, using two coats of the watery blue and green glitter formula (which has a mix of chunky and fine glitter), set in a sheer navy base.

Give Pretty!: Ted Gibson & Lela Rose for Labels For Love…

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending a charity event featuring a fashion show by desigener Lela Rose, at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC. The Mayflower is one of the most beautiful hotels in the DC area had a lavishly decorated lobby with artwork from local artists Lolly Amons, Roxanne Christie, Maggie O’Neill, Don Patron, Rodger Schultz, Matt Sesow, and Karen Suderman. 100% of sales from art pieces went to the event’s beneficiary, Childrens National Medical Center. In the middle of it all was a stellar show with hair by the inimitable Ted Gibson of TLC’s “What Not To Wear”. Ted worked his magic on the models (he did the same gorge look he did at the NYFW shows this past September) and the lovely Mary Amons worked the crowd. The place was packed to the brim with a who’s who of DC which made for a very interesting mix of people.

So a little background, Labels For Love is the charity behind the whole shebang and was founded by Mary Amons in 2006, it benefits 501(c)3 charitable organizations that protect women and children from the damaging effects of poverty, homelessness, abuse, and the hardships associated with terminal illness. Mary has a special connection to the event’s beneficiary Children’s National Medical Center as her son was born prematurely and spent a significant mount of time at the facility getting asthma treatments.

Hair and makeup provided by mah boo Ted Gibson, and Dior Beauty. Other sponsors included Cadillac, PHYTO, O’Neill Studios, the aba agency, T.H.E. Artist Agency, Secure Limo USA, and Bake Shop.

Beauty News: Kate Gosselin’s 20 Hour Makeover With Ted Gibson…

Somebody finally got a hold of that hair!! Thank goodness it was Ted….he worked his magic and transformed the most talked about hairstyle (and not in a good way) into something gorgeous. She will be able to grow it out this way without all the craziness of the in-between hair. “Kate was an absolute sweetheart, I loved her,” says Gibson, who is a celeb stylist for the likes of Angelina Jolie & Anne Hathaway. He also appears on the TLC show What Not To Wear and owns two namesake salons in NYC & DC.

To help achieve Kate Gosselin’s new look, Ted turned to Great Lengths 100% Human Hair Extensions. Transforming Kate’s shorter infamous do to long locks was no easy endeavor, taking 20 hours and hundreds of keratin bonded Great Lengths Extensions. However, once Kate revealed her new longer do, she loved it. Ted reveals, “using Great Lengths Extensions you are able to take hair from being ordinary to extraordinary!”

Creating this look was not without it’s challenges. Ted knew that transforming the look that launched a thousand Halloween wigs would be a challenge, Gibson reveals it was the spiky hair in the back of Kate’s do that proved most daunting. “Bonding extensions to those little hairs really took time. But in all those hours, she didn’t complain once. She was so open to whatever I suggested, and willing to try just about anything.” Well, almost anything: At first, Gibson reports, Kate was reluctant to let go of the thick, jaw-length shock of hair in the front of her face in favor of bangs. “She wasn’t sure about bangs,” says Gibson, “But I find many women have that one thing they’re afraid to let go of, that one ‘security blanket’ part of their look, whether it’s a fear of going shorter or darker or something. But once they finally let go and embrace the change, they always love it.”

How To: Winter Hair Fix for Static with Ted Gibson Hair Sheets…

Okay so now that the entire nation is in a deep freeze (it’s 18 degrees now!), I wear hats and scarves everyday! Which means two things, hat head and static electricity. TMG Project: Ted Gibson Keratin Treatment Follow-Up…

Okay so as you recall, I got a La Brasiliana Keratin Treatment at the DC location of the Ted Gibson Salon last Thursday. I was told after the treatment not to wash my hair for FOUR agonizing days. It was agonizing not because of the length of time (I normally wash my hair once a week anyway, if I wash any more than that it will get dry) but because my hair felt so super greasy/dirty by the fourth day I thought I would die. If you don’t know yet, keratin coats your hair, so afterwards it looked great but my initial feeling was that it was too straight (honestly I was skeptical on whether or not it would look good as I abhor absolutely stick straight hair on my face…I need body!). HOWEVER all of that being said…I am pleased to report that after I happily washed my hair last night…the results are GLORIOUS.

As I mentioned before, you MUST use sulfate free shampoo. I chose Phytolactum for dry hair and followed with Phyto Seasame conditioner. I put my hair up in a towel while I did my nightly face thing…and it was virtually dry in 10-15 minutes. Yep, that’s right I didn’t even get a CHANCE to blow it out. The keratin has softened my curls to a slight wave (no trace of frizz WHATSOEVER) and I could actually wash and go in the summer with no problem (which I cannot wait for). So I went to sleep and when I woke up today, no drama AT ALL. I could have put a bit of product in it and rolled out BUT I wanted the full monty. So I hit it with the blow dryer and a paddle brush to straighten it out (just a once thru…took all of 5 minutes and by the way, I didn’t put any product in at all) then I used a wide barrel curling iron all over. Total style time TEN MINUTES. This is life changing ladies and something I will continue to do FOREVER…..LOL. I am in love…
